LYNDONVILLE — A 63-year-old woman has been cited for insurance fraud and filing a false report after allegedly lying about how her vehicle was damaged.
Joann Charron came to the Lyndonville Police Department on May 28 and reported that her 2022 GMC Terrain had been struck by a hit-and-run driver while parked at an area business on Memorial Drive.
Police investigation revealed the damage did not occur at the business and the vehicle was actually damaged at a different location while Charron was driving it.
Charron had filed a claim with her insurance company regarding the alleged hit-and-run incident.
She was cited for insurance fraud and making false reports to law enforcement.
Charron is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on July 28 at 8:30 a.m.
The Lyndonville Police Department was assisted by a special agent from the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
