2 men arrested on felony weapons charges in Putnam Valley

PUTNEY VALLEY, NY — Two men face felony weapons charges following a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway.

Kiam A. Gory, 36, of Beacon, and Curtis L. Lunsford, 47, of Wappingers Falls, were arrested June 5, 2026, according to Putney County Sheriff Brian Hess.

Members of the Putney County Sheriff’s Office Conditions Unit conducted a traffic stop on a green Honda Civic at approximately 7:02 p.m. after observing the vehicle fail to use a turn signal while turning right onto the Taconic State Parkway.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a loaded pistol equipped with a high-capacity magazine from inside the vehicle.

Both men were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree (loaded firearm), a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree (large capacity ammunition feeding device), a class D felony; and criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree (previous conviction), a class D felony.

Gory was arraigned in the Town of Putney Valley Court and remanded to the Putney County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Lunsford was also arraigned and remanded to the Putney County Correctional Facility without bail due to two previous felony convictions.
