WATERVLIET, NY — Watervliet police arrested Rodney L. Patterson, 22, of Albany, in connection with a June 8 incident at the Michael J. Day Apartments in which a bullet was found inside a child’s room.
Detectives said their investigation determined Patterson discharged the firearm that resulted in the bullet entering a neighboring apartment.
Police said Patterson traveled to Binghamton after the incident.
With assistance from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Patterson was located and detained without incident, police said.
Police said license plate reader cameras were instrumental in locating Patterson’s vehicle after it left the Capital District.
Watervliet detectives traveled to Broome County and transported Patterson back to Watervliet, where he was processed.
Patterson was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
