UTICA, NY — A Utica man was charged after police said he broke into a neighboring apartment on Oswego Street and threatened the resident with a knife Tuesday evening.
Utica police said officers were dispatched at about 5 p.m. June 10 to an apartment building in the 800 block of Oswego Street for a reported burglary.
Police said the victim told officers that a man who lives in an adjacent apartment entered his apartment and immediately threatened him with a knife over a previous disagreement.
The victim was able to get the suspect to leave the apartment and then called police, according to officers.
Police said officers were directed to the suspect’s apartment, made contact with him and took him into custody without incident.
The knife believed to have been used in the incident was found in the apartment, police said.
Luis Rodriguez, 35, of Utica, was taken to the Utica Police Department and charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree menacing.
