DERBY, CT — Derby Police officers arrested a New Haven man on July 5 following a proactive patrol investigation.
Around 7:30 p.m., an officer observed suspicious activity followed by multiple motor vehicle violations, including the misuse of a license plate.
A motor vehicle stop was initiated.
During the investigation, Anthony Stewart, 52, of New Haven attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
As a result of the investigation and search of the vehicle, crack cocaine, heroin, and a stolen Glock pistol were located.
Stewart was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle, multiple narcotics offenses including possession with intent to sell, as well as numerous motor vehicle violations.
All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
