SECAUCUS, NJ — Three Newark men have been charged in connection with two attempted home invasions in Secaucus, police said.
On Dec. 12, police received a report that two masked men attempted to break into a home on Arn Terrace at 4:10 a.m. with the intent to steal a BMW parked in the driveway.
The men arrived in a Hyundai that had been reported stolen in Irvington, police said.
They were startled by the home’s security system and fled the area, police said.
Secaucus police detectives responded and gathered evidence.
On Dec. 17, police received a report that three men arrived on Allan Terrace at 4:54 a.m. in a BMW X3 that had been reported stolen from South Orange.
Two men exited the vehicle and approached a residence, attempting to pry open a window but were unsuccessful, police said.

A follow-up investigation led to the identification of Hakim White, 18, of Newark as one of the men who attempted to burglarize the Allan Terrace residence, police said.
He was arrested and charged on Jan. 23.
In May, detectives from the Maplewood Police Department contacted Secaucus police with information relating to both burglary attempts.
After corroborating the information, Zameer Suggs and Znajay Nelson, both 18, of Newark were charged on July 6 with the attempted burglary of the Allan Terrace residence, police said.
Additionally, Nelson was charged with the attempted burglary of the Arn Terrace residence.
“Since crime has no borders, true collaboration and intelligence sharing is what makes law enforcement effective,” Chief Dennis Miller said.
“I want to thank the detectives from the Maplewood Police Department, and I commend the Secaucus police detectives for their continued tireless work.”
Suggs and Nelson are charged with criminal attempt to commit residential burglary, criminal attempt to commit motor vehicle theft, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, participating in auto theft trafficking network, conspiracy to commit residential burglary and criminal mischief for the Allan Terrace incident.
Nelson is charged with criminal attempt to commit residential burglary, criminal attempt to commit motor vehicle theft, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, participating in auto theft trafficking network and conspiracy to commit residential burglary for the Arn Terrace incident.
They are both lodged in area jails.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
