Motorcyclist killed in crash in Fairlee

FAIRLEE, VT — A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 5 on July 2, 2026.

Vermont State Police troopers were dispatched to the scene at 10:42 p.m. near Mountain Road.

The operator of a 2001 Honda motorcycle was traveling north on U.S. Route 5 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to police.

The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

Bradford Fire Department, Fairlee Fire Department and Upper Valley Rescue responded to provide medical care.

The 66-year-old operator, of Bradford, was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from medical personnel.

The operator was not wearing a seat belt.

The motorcycle was totaled in the crash.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information to call the Vermont State Police barracks in St. Johnsbury at 802-748-3111.

The name of the operator is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
