BOSTON, MA — A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 14-year-old girl in Dorchester in May.
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested the suspect at approximately 12:44 p.m. Thursday at a residence on Mt. Pleasant Street in Dorchester.
The juvenile, of Dorchester, was arrested on a felony warrant issued out of Suffolk County Juvenile Court.
He faces charges of assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a covert/undetectable firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred at approximately 8:08 p.m. on May 6 at a residence on Milton Avenue in Dorchester.
Officers responding to a call for a person shot located the 14-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and has continued to recover from her injuries.
During the initial response, officers conducting a protective sweep of the home located two juvenile males attempting to leave through a rear door.
A pat frisk of one juvenile’s backpack led to the recovery of a black, semi-automatic firearm with an extended, large capacity magazine.
That juvenile was placed under arrest at the scene and later charged with firearm and ammunition offenses through Dorchester District Court.
Detectives assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted the investigation that led to the arrest warrant.
