Woman arrested on retail theft charge in Wilkes-Barre Township

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, PA — A woman was arrested on a retail theft charge at a Walmart on Tuesday afternoon after loss prevention staff reported she attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise.

Police arrested Ingrid Luz Garcia, 49, of Queens, New York, at the Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace at 3:31 p.m.

Loss prevention alleged Garcia attempted to walk out of the store with $796 worth of unpaid merchandise.

Upon police arrival, Garcia refused to identify herself.

Police said Garcia was given multiple opportunities to avoid arrest but continued to be uncooperative with officers.

Police took Garcia into custody and charged her as Jane Doe.

Garcia was arraigned before the duty magistrate where she identified herself.

She was given $10,000 straight bail and taken to Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
