Two arrested in stolen vehicle case in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force arrested two men June 22, 2026, in connection with a stolen vehicle from Ridgefield.

Officers were investigating a green Alfa Romeo that had been reported stolen from Ridgefield when they located the vehicle parked in the area of Dikeman Street.

Two males were observed exiting the vehicle.

Officers attempted to stop the driver, later identified as John Laporte, 19, of Waterbury, who fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, Laporte was apprehended.

Laporte was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering with an officer and tampering with evidence.

The passenger, Luis Rodriguez, 18, of Waterbury, was apprehended without incident and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
