Man arrested on DWI charge in Long Beach Township

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man was arrested after driving into a police department parking lot reserved for emergency vehicles on June 18, 2026.

James Leonetti, 56, of Long Beach Township, drove through an entrance designated for emergency vehicles only at the Long Beach Township Police Department and proceeded into the patrol vehicle parking lot, according to police.

Officers approached the vehicle to see if the driver needed assistance.

An investigation led to Leonetti’s arrest on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Officers, with assistance from the Long Beach Township Detective Bureau, executed a court-authorized search warrant of his vehicle.

The search resulted in additional charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Leonetti was processed and released pending a future court date.
