GREENFIELD, NY — A Hudson Falls woman died after stealing a vehicle from Saratoga Springs and crashing into a tree, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Jobeth Williams, 39, was identified as the operator of the vehicle involved in the June 19 incident.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Denton Road and Locust Grove Road at approximately 4:15 a.m. for a report of a one-vehicle crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates Williams left Saratoga Hospital on foot and subsequently stole a vehicle from Seward Street in Saratoga Springs.
The vehicle drove west on Denton Road, struck a tree at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and caught fire.
Williams was the only occupant and was deceased at the scene.
The investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit is ongoing.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Saratoga Springs Police Department, New York State Police, Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Greenfield Fire Department, Saratoga County Coroner’s Office and the Saratoga County Deputy Fire Coordinator.
