Fatal motorcycle crash in Marcellus

MARCELLUS, NY — New York State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred June 21, 2026, at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 10:10 a.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 2024 Subaru operated by Morgan L. Heise, 18, of Chaumont, was traveling northbound on Slate Hill Road and had stopped at the intersection with U.S. Route 20.

Heise proceeded into the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 55-year-old male, resulting in a collision.

The motorcycle operator and his 55-year-old female passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Upstate University Hospital.

The female passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The male operator remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Heise was not injured in the crash.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance and Marcellus Fire Department.
