WARRINGTON, PA — Two Philadelphia men were arrested after a theft at the Walmart on Valley Gate Drive escalated into a robbery involving a knife on June 9.
According to police, Mark Alexander, 38, of Philadelphia, asked an employee to remove a Nintendo Switch gaming console, valued at $528.94, from a secured display case.
Police said Alexander distracted the employee while Joel Long, 43, of Philadelphia, concealed the Nintendo Switch and left the store without paying.
When confronted by loss prevention employees outside, Long allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and held it while speaking with the employees.
Officers located Alexander near a bus stop, where, according to police reports, he initially provided a false name before being taken into custody.
Long returned to the same area a short time later and was also arrested.
Police say the stolen Nintendo Switch and clothing believed to have been discarded by Long were recovered at the scene.
Both men were processed and arraigned.
Long’s bail was set at $1 million (10% cash), while Alexander’s was set at $250,000 (10% cash).
Authorities also stated that both suspects had active warrants for their arrest from Philadelphia.
Criminal charges are allegations.
All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
