WARRINGTON, PA — Two Philadelphia men were arrested Monday following an attempted theft that escalated to a robbery involving a knife at Walmart on Valley Gate Drive in Warrington.
Police said Mark Alexander, 38, of Philadelphia had a Walmart employee remove a Nintendo Switch, valued at $528.94, from a secured case before distracting the employee.
Joel Long, 43, also of Philadelphia, then concealed the gaming console and left the store without paying.
According to authorities, when confronted outside by loss prevention personnel, Long pulled a knife from his pocket and held it while speaking to employees.
Officers later located Alexander near a bus stop, where police say he provided a false name before being placed under arrest.
A short time later, Long returned to the area and was also taken into custody.
Police recovered the stolen Nintendo Switch and clothing allegedly discarded by Long nearby.
Both men were processed and arraigned.
Bail was set at $1 million (10% cash) for Long and $250,000 (10% cash) for Alexander.
Police said both suspects had warrants for their arrest from Philadelphia.
Alexander faces charges of robbery, retail theft (conspiracy), receiving stolen property (conspiracy), terroristic threats (conspiracy), false identification to law enforcement officer, and harassment.
Long also faces related charges stemming from the incident.
All charges are allegations, and both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
