MEREDITH, NY — New York State Police arrested Ryan H. Gregory, 26, of Coram at about 9 p.m. June 10 following a neighbor dispute in Meredith that left a man shot.

The investigation found that at about 2 p.m., Gregory and a neighbor were involved in a dispute on Houghtaling Hollow Road.

During the altercation, Gregory shot the 57-year-old victim, of Meredith, and two unoccupied vehicles, police said.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and drove himself to A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was later transferred to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

Troopers later found Gregory at his residence on Houghtaling Hollow Road, where police said he was in possession of firearms and refused commands to surrender.

After several hours of negotiations with investigators and members of the New York State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit, Gregory surrendered without incident, police said.

Gregory was taken to State Police in Oneonta, where he was charged with second-degree attempted murder, a Class B felony, and first-degree criminal use of a firearm, a Class B felony.

Additional charges are likely, police said.

Gregory was processed and taken to the Delaware County Jail for centralized arraignment.
