WATERBURY, VT — A two-vehicle crash on Waterbury Stowe Road closed the road for several hours Wednesday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers said the crash was reported at about 2:44 p.m. on June 11.

Police said Mary Cricenti, 79, of Milton, Del., was driving north on Waterbury Stowe Road when she fell asleep, crossed the double yellow center line and struck a telephone pole.

The pole then fell onto a 2022 Ram 1500 driven by Timothy Bachman, 67, of Millersville, Pa., police said.

Police said Bachman swerved to avoid a further collision, causing his vehicle to overturn.

Bachman and his passenger, Christine Bachman, 65, of Millersville, Pa., suffered suspected minor injuries and were taken to Central Vermont Medical Center for evaluation, police said.

Cricenti was not injured, according to police.

Police said Cricenti was driving a 2025 Subaru Outback that sustained significant front-end damage.

The Ram sustained heavy damage on the driver’s side, police said.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts, according to police.

The crash happened in clear weather and on dry roads, police said.

Vermont State Police said they were assisted by the Waterbury Fire Department, Waterbury Ambulance Service and Stowe Police Department.

Waterbury Stowe Road remained closed for several hours while Green Mountain Power crews repaired the downed pole and wires, police said.
