CLINTON, ME — Maine State Police have arrested a local man in connection with a homicide that occurred nearly a year ago.
James Simonson, 66, of Clinton was taken into custody at approximately 3:20 p.m. Thursday in Clinton.
Simonson has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person in connection with a shooting that occurred in late June on Main Street in Clinton.
William “Bill” Parent, 68, of Clinton died from injuries he sustained in the incident.
An autopsy conducted at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds and the manner of death homicide.
Simonson was transported to the Kennebec County Jail where he is being held without bail.
The arrest was made by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-Central.
