EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PA — An adult woman was struck and killed by a train at about 3:40 a.m. Monday in the area of Horseshoe and Jefferson roads, according to East Lampeter Township police.
Police said officers were dispatched to a report of a person struck by a train and learned at the scene that the woman had been hit by a Norfolk Southern train operating on an Amtrak rail line.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead, police said.
Norfolk Southern and Amtrak police are investigating.
