PORTLAND, ME — A Lewiston man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland to possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and more than 400 grams of fentanyl, and to using a firearm in furtherance of that crime.
Muktar Abshir Aden, 27, of Lewiston, entered the plea Wednesday, according to court records.
Prosecutors said Aden sold drugs to confidential law enforcement sources and undercover officers on six occasions in 2024, culminating in an October search of his residence.
Investigators recovered nearly 3 kilograms of methamphetamine and 2 kilograms of fentanyl, along with at least five firearms, one of which had been reported stolen, according to court records.
Aden faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and up to life imprisonment, as well as up to a $10 million fine and up to a lifetime of supervised release.
He will be sentenced after the U.S. Probation Office completes a presentence investigation report.
A federal judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Lewiston Police Department.
