NEW HARTFORD, NY — Two people have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a smoke shop on Kellogg Road.
New Hartford police officers responded to the business in the Hannaford Plaza at approximately 7 a.m. on April 27, 2026, for a report of a burglary that occurred overnight.
The business owner arrived to open and found extensive damage to the front door and signs that someone had entered.
Property from within was also missing.
Police evidence technicians processed the scene while patrol officers canvassed the area for further information and evidence from other neighboring businesses.
The case was assigned to the New Hartford Police Criminal Investigation Division for further follow up.
During the investigation two suspects were identified.
Damian Bergman, 19, of Whitestown, was arrested today and charged with one count of burglary in the third degree, a felony; one count of criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony; and one count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Bergman was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and transported to the Oneida County Jail to be held for arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
A 17-year-old male from Penneville was arrested on May 11, 2026, and charged with one count of burglary in the third degree, a felony; one count of criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony; and one count of petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
The juvenile was arraigned in Oneida County Youth Part Court on these charges.
Investigators with the City of Rome Police Department assisted in the investigation.
