CRAFTSBURY, VT — A man was arrested on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order after state police found a firearm while executing a search warrant.
Robert Witham Jr., 45, of Craftsbury, was taken into custody at approximately 6:59 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Wild Branch Road.
Vermont State Police from the Derby barracks were executing a search warrant for an unrelated case when troopers located a firearm in the residence occupied by Witham.
Witham was found to have an active abuse prevention order that prohibited him from possessing firearms.
He was transported to the Derby barracks without incident and released with a citation to appear in Orleans Superior Court on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
