ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A man was arrested after police say he attempted to break into gaming machines at a business early March 21, 2026.

Officers responded to a security alarm at CPC Energy at 3031 Mt. Carmel Ave. at approximately 5:43 a.m.

An employee contacted police and reported observing a male inside the business on security cameras attempting to pry open gaming machines.

Officer Dinsmore arrived and observed a male suspect inside the store.

The suspect fled out the rear door after becoming aware of Officer Dinsmore’s presence.

Officer Dinsmore chased the suspect to the area of Chelsea Ave. and Chestnut Ave., where he lost sight of him.

Officers from Abington, Upper Dublin and Springfield police departments quickly established a perimeter.

K9 units from Hatboro and Upper Moreland responded to assist, while Officer Guidera deployed the department drone in support of the search efforts.

Officer Dinsmore assisted with the K9 track, which continued northbound through the rear yards of Chelsea Ave. where the suspect was last observed.

Officer Guidera maneuvered the drone ahead of the K9 team and conducted an aerial search of the area.

At approximately 6:09 a.m., Officer Guidera observed a heat signature in a rear yard on Chelsea Ave.

After continued observation, he determined that the heat signature was a person crawling along a fence line.
