CHESTER, NH — A police dog helped locate a missing autistic juvenile experiencing a mental health crisis on May 14, 2026.
K9 Crue and Officer Capsalis of the Danville Police Department responded at approximately 5:50 p.m. to assist Sergeant Kerkman and Officer Kehoe of the Chester Police Department in locating the runaway juvenile.
K9 Crue established a scent trail in heavy rain and led officers through heavily wooded and swampy terrain behind a residence.
Officer Dunn of the Danville Police Department and Officer Kehoe of the Chester Police Department accompanied the team during the search.
K9 Crue tracked approximately 2.2 miles through difficult terrain before emerging near the intersection of Wason Road and Towle Road.
The track continued behind a residence on Wason Road, where a homeowner reported observing a juvenile run behind the property into a wooded area.
Dispatch advised officers that a cellphone ping from the juvenile had been received in the immediate area of K9 Crue’s location.
K9 Dundee and Deputy Callahan of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department spotted the juvenile on Arabian Way.
Deputy Callahan safely rescued the juvenile and reunited him with his family.
The Chester Police Department, Sandown Police Department, Fremont Police Department and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department assisted during the incident.
