Man arrested on firearm charges in Barton

BARTON, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man early Saturday morning following a domestic dispute involving a firearm.

Matthew Santaw, 22, of Barton, was taken into custody at 4:05 a.m. on Lincoln Avenue.

Police said an investigation revealed Santaw was in possession of a firearm despite being prohibited from possessing firearms.

Santaw also threatened bodily harm to another person, according to police.

He was charged with prohibited persons in possession of a firearm and criminal threatening.

Santaw was processed at the Derby Barracks and lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility on $2,500 bail.

He was also held by Probation and Parole for violating his conditions.
