Minor arrested on menacing charge in Providence

PROVIDENCE, NY — A minor was arrested Monday after allegedly charging at a deputy with a knife during a missing person investigation.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a missing person call at 11:19 a.m. in the town of Providence.

The minor is charged with menacing a police officer or peace officer, a class D felony.

The minor is accused of intentionally placing a police officer in reasonable fear of physical injury, serious physical injury or death by displaying a knife while the officer was performing his official duties.

The minor allegedly charged at the deputy brandishing a knife raised in an attacking manner.

The minor knew the victim was a police officer, according to authorities.

The minor was released to the custody of a parent pending proceedings in Saratoga County Family Court.

No injuries were reported.
