CARROLLTON, NY — A traffic stop on Route 219 led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man on drug and impaired driving charges May 8.
Joseph J. Orris, 39, of Bradford, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody at approximately 10:23 p.m. by deputies of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory.
Deputies stopped Orris for a vehicle and traffic law infraction in the Town of Carrollton.
Following an investigation, Orris was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and was also found to be driving while ability impaired by drugs, according to the sheriff’s office.
Orris was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for a DRE evaluation and processing.
He was processed and released on an appearance ticket and multiple uniform traffic tickets.
Orris was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, obstruction second degree, driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation and speed in zone.
He is due in the Town of Carrollton Court at a later date.
