Inmate escapes from transitional housing unit in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has placed a minimum-security inmate on escape status after he left a transitional housing facility.

Shawn Michael Bailey exited the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit at approximately 10:35 p.m. May 9, 2026, after being placed on house restriction.

His current whereabouts are unknown.

Bailey, 39, of Manchester, is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded “CCM” sweatshirt, jeans and black sneakers.

Bailey is incarcerated for violation of probation, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of controlled drug/Schedule I-IV; sale.

His maximum custody release date is Aug. 1, 2029.
