HEPBURN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police responded to a reported domestic-related stabbing on Sawmill Road on May 7 at approximately 2:32 p.m.
The Lycoming Regional Police Department determined the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between Dakota J. Barto, 29, of Cogan Station, and his girlfriend.
Initial information suggested a possible stabbing had occurred.
However, the investigation revealed that no stabbing took place.
Barto sustained a minor hand laceration that may have been caused while he was pounding on a door outside a trailer.
During the investigation, officers learned that Barto had an active warrant for his arrest related to a violation of a Protection From Abuse order on April 30.
Barto received medical evaluation and treatment from EMS at the scene.
He was then taken before a Lycoming County Common Pleas judge and subsequently committed to the Lycoming County Prison.
The Lycoming Regional Police Department was assisted by South Williamsport Police and Hepburn Volunteer Fire Company and medics from SREMS.
