MALONE, NY — New York State Police arrested a 26-year-old man on arson and burglary charges May 7, 2026.
Jeffrey J. Soucia, of Malone, was charged with arson in the third degree and burglary in the third degree.
Troopers responded to a report of a structure fire on State Route 11 in the village of Malone at approximately 7:54 p.m.
Upon arrival, troopers observed local fire departments extinguishing the fire at a vacant residence.
The Malone Police Department assisted with the investigation.
An investigation determined the fire was suspicious in nature.
Investigators determined that Soucia intentionally set fire to the vacant residential property, causing damage to the structure.
Soucia was arrested and processed.
He was arraigned in the Town of Malone Court and released on his own recognizance.
