ROXBURY, MA — A Connecticut man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following an investigation by Boston Police in Roxbury.
Victor Sanjurjo Melendez, 27, of Connecticut, was taken into custody at about 12:32 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard.
Members of the Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team observed an apparent drug transaction between two suspects and another individual.
The individual was issued a summons to appear in Roxbury District Court on a charge of possession of Class B drugs.
Officers approached one suspect in the area of 85 Southampton Street who was issued a summons to appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, distribution of Class B drugs and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Officers continued their investigation and approached Sanjurjo Melendez at 850 Massachusetts Avenue, where he was taken into custody.
During the booking process, officers recovered two large plastic bags containing sixteen individually packaged small plastic bags with approximately twenty-five grams of crack cocaine from the suspect’s underwear.
Officers also recovered an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
Sanjurjo Melendez is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of trafficking Class B drugs, distribution of Class B drugs and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
