Man arrested on murder charges in Valley Stream

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two fatal stabbings that occurred early Friday morning in Nassau County.

Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera, of Valley Stream, faces one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.

Fourth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call at a Wendy’s restaurant at 33 Austin Boulevard in North Long Beach at 12:27 a.m. Friday.

Officers found a 42-year-old woman who had been stabbed outside the restaurant.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

At 3:13 a.m. Friday, Fifth Precinct officers received a call from Lynbrook Police Department requesting a welfare check at 90 West Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream.

Officers found a 32-year-old woman who had been stabbed inside the residence.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

Lynbrook Police Department located Alvarenga Rivera and arrested him without incident following an investigation.
