Man arrested on child exploitation charge in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT — A Wallingford man has been arrested on charges related to possession of child sex abuse materials following an investigation by the Hartford Police Department.

Christopher Torre, 27, of Wallingford, was arrested on May 2, 2026, and charged with Possession of Child Abuse Materials in the First Degree.

The investigation began in February when the Hartford Police Department’s Special Investigations Division – Child Exploitation Prevention Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team, executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence on Oxford Street.

During the search, detectives located numerous items of illegal child sex abuse materials in Torre’s possession.

Torre was taken into custody and transported to the Hartford Police Detention Division for processing.

As the investigation continued, detectives determined that Torre was in possession of additional child sex abuse materials.

Based on these findings, probable cause was established and an arrest warrant was drafted and subsequently approved by a Superior Court judge.

On May 2, 2026, detectives from the Special Investigations Division located Torre and took him into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Hartford Police Detention Division for processing.

Torre is being held on a court-set bond of $250,000.
