Man arrested on firearm charges in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT — Police arrested a convicted felon on multiple charges after he allegedly threatened people with a gun at a liquor store and fled on a scooter.

Officers were dispatched to French’s Liquor Store at 580 Albany Avenue on April 29, 2026, on a report of an individual threatening others with a firearm.

The suspect fled the area on a scooter before officers arrived.

Members of the Street Crimes Unit observed the suspect after he lost control of the scooter on Brook Street.

Officers engaged the suspect in a foot pursuit and observed him discard a firearm.

After a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Police recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

Andre Rodriguez, 38, of Hartford, was arrested and charged with breach of peace, threatening in the first degree, interfering with police, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and theft of a firearm.

Police said Rodriguez is a previously convicted felon.

The recovered weapon was identified as a Springfield Armory Hellcat 9mm with 10 live rounds that had been reported stolen out of Hartford.
