Man arrested on drug charges in Geneseo

GENESEO, NY — A traffic stop on Lakeville Road led to the arrest of an Albany man on felony drug charges.

Deputy Jacob Cicero stopped a vehicle on Lakeville Road around 10 p.m. Saturday after observing violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Dahmeer Floyd, 30, of Albany.

Cicero suspected drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a roadside investigation.

Floyd was found to be in possession of MDMA, and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle, Dougherty said.

Floyd was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree and violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Floyd was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Conesus Justice Coyne.

The judge remanded Floyd to the custody of the sheriff without the possibility of bail due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Floyd at the arraignment, and the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.

Deputies Jerry Pilkenton and Matthew VanCuran assisted.
