BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police investigated a social media post made by a student at Central Regional Middle School but determined there was no threat to students or staff.
On Thursday, security staff at the school were made aware of a concerning social media post by a juvenile student.
Security staff notified the Berkeley Township Police Department School Resource Officer assigned to the school, which prompted an immediate investigation into any potential threat to students or staff.
The Berkeley Township Police Detective Bureau was also contacted to assist with the investigation.
Upon reviewing the reported social media post, no threat was found.
All involved students and their guardians were contacted by law enforcement and it was confirmed again that there was no threat to the public or school.
On Friday, misinformation began to be spread around the community and school district through social media.
Additional follow up investigations were conducted by the Berkeley Township Police Detective Bureau as a result of this misinformation.
Again, law enforcement found no threat to staff, students, or the community.
