SOUTHEAST, NY — A traffic stop on Interstate 84 led to the recovery of multiple firearms and the arrest of a Pennsylvania man April 30.
Members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a Toyota traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 at approximately 9 p.m. for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator was identified as Cotman A. Rosario Suarez, 30, of West Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Rosario Suarez consented to a search of the vehicle.
Members recovered an American Tactical semi-automatic rifle, a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Pioneer Arms Classic Pro AK-style pistol, and numerous high-capacity magazines.
Rosario Suarez was charged with five counts of Manufacture, Transport, Disposition, and Defacement of Weapons and Dangerous Instruments, class D felonies; Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree – Assault Weapon, a class D felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree – Three or More Firearms, a class D felony; four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, class D felonies; and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class E felonies.
Rosario Suarez was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court on May 1 and released on his own recognizance.
