Man arrested after high-speed pursuit in Lincoln

LINCOLN, RI — A New Bedford, Massachusetts man was arrested following a high-speed pursuit on Route 195 on Friday.

Victor Ixcuna Vicente, 49, of New Bedford, was taken into custody at 6:30 p.m. and faces multiple charges.

Vicente was charged with reckless driving – eluding law enforcement in high-speed pursuit, first offense; reckless driving and other offenses against public safety, first offense; driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs BAC unknown, first offense; obstructing an officer in the execution of duty; and refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense.

The arrest resulted from an investigation into an erratic operator on Route 195 and a subsequent motor vehicle pursuit.

Vicente was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned and released pending a future court date at the Sixth Division District Court.

In a separate incident, Justine Fernandes, 40, of Providence, was arrested at 1:22 a.m. Saturday.

Fernandes was charged with possession of a controlled substance Schedule I-V.
