CARMEL, NY — Two people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Route 6 on April 29, 2026.
Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Conditions Unit conducted the traffic stop at approximately 9:01 p.m., according to Sheriff Brian Hess.
During the stop, deputies recovered approximately 75 grams of cocaine.
A 32-year-old woman from Carmel and a 41-year-old man from Peekskill were taken into custody.
The man was also found to be in possession of an electronic stun gun.
Both were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree (narcotic drug – intent to sell) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree (narcotic drug).
The man was additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree.
The woman was released on her own recognizance with electronic monitoring.
The man was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility.
