Man cited for retail theft in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — A New Jersey man was cited for retail theft after allegedly stealing from a convenience store late Tuesday night.

Tyler Gambone, 39, of Sicklerville, New Jersey, was accused of concealing a Duraflame Firestarter and leaving Maplefields without paying for it, according to St. Johnsbury Police.

Officer Shawn Pereira responded to the store at 85 U.S. Route 2 West at approximately 11:24 p.m. on April 22, 2026.

Store staff reported that a male subject had concealed the item and exited without paying.

Surveillance footage confirmed the theft, police said.

Officer Pereira canvassed the area and located the subject a short time later at 401 Western Avenue.

Upon contact, the male was found to be in possession of the stolen item and was identified as Gambone.

Gambone was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Court on July 20, 2026 to answer to the charge of retail theft.
