AUBURN, NY — A man faces multiple charges after allegedly making false emergency calls to dispatchers over a seven-month period.
Dustin Curtis, 31, of Auburn was arrested April 12 on nine counts of falsely reporting an incident.
Police said Curtis made nine separate phone calls to the Cayuga County Dispatch Center between June 2024 and January 2025.
The calls allegedly reported various emergencies including medical emergencies, fire emergencies and gun complaints.
The reported incidents required responses from EMS, fire departments, police or a combination of multiple services, according to police.
Curtis was charged with three counts of falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor, and one count of falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, a class E felony.
The arrest followed a multi-year investigation, police said.
