Structure fire extinguished on Greenwood Avenue in Hopatcong

HOPATCONG, NJ — Patrol units responded to a reported possible structure fire on Greenwood Avenue on April 21, 2026.

Upon arrival, officers observed active flames coming from the right side of the residence.

The homeowner confirmed that all occupants and a dog had safely exited the home, though a family cat remained inside.

The Hopatcong Fire Department quickly arrived on scene and assumed command, with assistance from mutual aid departments.

Fire crews successfully extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters were able to locate the family cat inside the home.

The animal was safely removed, placed into a carrier, and returned to the family.
