PENN HILLS, PA — A man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he was found with a weapon and suspected drugs inside a convenience store.
Fidell Eberhart, 34, of Aliquippa, was arrested Monday afternoon at a GetGo location on Frankstown Road, according to Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus.
A detective from the sheriff’s office who is a member of the DEA Task Force was conducting operations in Penn Hills with two other task force members from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and the Allegheny County Police Department when they stopped at the GetGo just after 4 p.m.
Once inside, the task force members spotted a man with what appeared to be a handgun in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt, authorities said.
The man, later identified as Eberhart, went into the restroom and upon exiting was ordered by the detective and other task force members to put his hands behind his back.
Eberhart attempted to evade the detectives and reached for the weapon in his hoodie several times before the detective was able to gain control of his arms, place him on the ground and handcuff him while a second task force member retrieved the firearm, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Glock Model 22 was found to have a round in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine.
A search of Eberhart revealed approximately $7,000 in cash and a baggie containing 45 stamp bags of suspected narcotics, authorities said.
Eberhart was transported to the Allegheny County Jail to face firearms charges, drug charges and a charge of resisting arrest.
