Man arrested after tire theft, chase in Bristol

BRISTOL, CT — Police arrested a man early Tuesday after citizens reported people stealing rims and tires from vehicles.

During the early morning hours of March 18, citizens notified police of people stealing rims and tires off vehicles in the area of Surrey Drive.

Officers were given a description of a vehicle believed to be involved and quickly located it in the area.

The vehicle attempted to elude officers before backing into a tree.

Two occupants fled from the vehicle, and one was later apprehended thanks to subsequent calls from citizens updating officers of the suspect’s movements.

Edgar Joel Soto, of New Britain, was arrested on charges of interfering with police, criminal trover, third-degree larceny, reckless endangerment and possession of burglary tools.

Soto was transferred to New Britain police, where he had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
