Man found dead in Lehigh River in Coplay

COPLAY, PA — A man sought on probation violations was found dead in the Lehigh River on March 13 after fleeing from law enforcement.

Coplay Police Department was notified at approximately 11:39 a.m. that other law enforcement agencies were pursuing Toddrick Bynoe in connection with outstanding probation-related matters.

Bynoe fled into Coplay Borough and attempted to cross the Lehigh River.

Coplay police assisted with search efforts using available resources, with support from area emergency responders.

Multiple agencies coordinated search operations to locate Bynoe.

During the search, Bynoe was located in the Lehigh River within Coplay Borough and was pronounced dead by the Lehigh County Coroner.

The Lehigh County Coroner is investigating the cause and manner of death.

Coplay Police Department’s involvement was limited to providing assistance during the search and recovery at the request of other agencies.

Coplay police did not initiate the pursuit and was not the lead investigating agency.

An autopsy is scheduled for a later date.
