Woman arrested on felony DWI charge in Penn Yan

PENN YAN, NY — A woman was arrested on felony driving while intoxicated charges following a traffic stop in the village.

Angela C. Bruno, 27, of Penn Yan, was stopped by police and displayed several indicators of intoxication, including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.

Bruno failed standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

She was transported to the Yates County Jail where she voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test which revealed her blood alcohol content to be .15%.

Police discovered during the investigation that Bruno had a prior conviction for driving while ability impaired by drugs within the past 10 years, making this arrest a felony.

Bruno was charged with DWI common law (felony), DWI .08% BAC or greater (felony), speed in zone, and insufficient turn signal.

She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
