PLATTSBURGH, NY — New York State Police charged Sherry L. Dinkelman, 49, of Schenectady, with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree and Identity Theft in the 1st Degree on March 11, 2026.
Troopers responded to the Dannemora Federal Credit Union on New York Road in the Town of Plattsburgh on Dec. 12, 2024, at approximately 11:32 a.m. for a report of criminal impersonation.
An investigation determined that an unknown female entered the bank and presented identification to a bank employee.
The employee quickly recognized that the identification did not match the individual attempting to access the account.
The bank employee contacted law enforcement, and the female fled the scene prior to troopers’ arrival.
An investigation by State Police later identified the suspect as Dinkelman.
An arrest warrant was subsequently issued.
Further investigation determined that Dinkelman is also wanted by other law enforcement agencies, including agencies outside of New York State, for similar incidents.
Dinkelman was located and taken into custody by the Schenectady Police Department on March 11, 2026.
She was later turned over to the New York State Police and processed at SP Plattsburgh.
Dinkelman was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and remanded to the Clinton County Jail due to her fugitive from justice status.
