HARTFORD, CT — A 21-year-old man was arrested after a foot pursuit that led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles and a loaded firearm.
Members of the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force were conducting an investigation on March 5, 2026, into an individual believed to be responsible for multiple motor vehicle thefts.
The suspect was also known to have active arrest warrants for escape and car break incidents.
Detectives observed a stolen Honda Accord in the area of Humphrey Street that they believed the suspect was operating.
Officers converged on the vehicle, and the suspect fled on foot toward another stolen vehicle parked nearby.
Following a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was safely apprehended, and officers recovered a loaded firearm.
Marquees Rodriguez, 21, of Hartford, was interviewed and transported to detention where he was charged in connection with two stolen vehicles and the recovered firearm.
Rodriguez was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, larceny 2nd degree, use of a motor vehicle without owner’s permission, criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and interfering with police.
Police recovered a 2014 Honda Accord stolen from Granby, a 2018 Acura ILX stolen from Meriden and a Ruger SR40 .40 caliber handgun.
