POTTER, NY — A Rochester man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge following a go-cart crash Thursday night.
M.K. Sheared, 64, of Rochester, was traveling west on Phelps Road on a gas-operated go-cart at 10:47 p.m. when he exited the roadway and rolled into a ditch, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheared showed signs of intoxication and was placed into custody, deputies said.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and moving from a lane unsafely.
Sheared was transported to the Yates County Jail where he awaited arraignment in centralized arraignment part court.
The arresting officer was working the New York State STOP-DWI High Visibility Campaign.
Yates County deputies responded to the scene along with Potter Fire, Penn Yan Ambulance and Middlesex Ambulance.
