Man arrested on embezzlement charges in North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A local man has been arrested following a year-long investigation into an alleged embezzlement scheme involving a purported cannabis business venture.

Eddie Fernandez, 47, of North Haven, was taken into custody Wednesday after a warrant for his arrest was approved by court.

North Haven Detectives were assigned to investigate a reported embezzlement involving approximately $1.1 million on March 25.

Upon speaking with the complainants, detectives learned the victims believed they were investing in, and financing, a legitimate cannabis business venture.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives conducted multiple interviews and executed several search warrants.

Investigators identified Fernandez as the individual who introduced the business opportunity, met with the victims, and collected more than $1 million in funds.

Fernandez was charged with four counts of larceny in the first degree, one count of larceny in the second degree, one count of forgery second degree, and five counts of SEC fraud.
